Defaulters can pay their power bills now up to January 31 rather than the earlier deadline of Dec 31, 2018. This had come about as a huge relief to consumers who as per he Power Department seemed keen to pay up. The state government had decided to give relied to such consumers who want to dispose of their bills till January last.
An official RK Agrawal of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Ltd said that in Gurugram Circle 2 so far 28731 power consumers have taken benefit of this scheme. Every day around 600-800 consumers are taking benefit of this scheme it has been learnt. The department has earned a revenue of Rs 2.30 crores so far while power bills up to Rs 78 crores have been waived off. In Circle 2 there has been a settlement of aound Rs 108 crores also. DC Vinay Pratap Singh said that this is an ambitious scheme of the state and appealed to the public to take advantage of the scheme.
All bills preceding 2005 have been waived off by the state.
