A team of police officials from Police Station Dwarka South arrested one bootlegger Dharambir from Najafgarh during a vehicle checking drive. The team also recovered 63 cartons containing 3,138 quarters of illicit liquor with and an SX 4 car No. DL-1CX-5225 SX4, which was used in committing crime.

In order to prevent crime and smuggling of illicit liquor in the area of Dwarka sub division, dedicated teams have been deployed to collect information and take action under the supervision of Inspector Ram Niwas, SHO/PS Dwarka South and overall supervision of ACP/Dwarka, Rajender Singh. Further surprise vehicle checking  is being conducted by randomly selecting different locations for placing picket.

In continuation to this exercise, on the intervening night of Dec. 24/25 the police party were directed to place a picket near Power House at Sector-1, Dwarka by putting barricades and checking vehicles. During checking at about 12:30 am, the staff signaled one SX 4 Car No.DL-1CX-5225 to stop, but the car driver stopped it before picket and started running in opposite direction.The picket staff immediately followed him and after a brief chase apprehended him. On checking, the rear portion of the car was found fully loaded with illegal liquor and the driver was later identified as Dharambir.

During checking, the car was found loaded with 63 cartons containing 3138 quarters of illicit liquor. The illicit liquor includes 57 cartons with 50 quarters in each i.e. 2850 quarters of “Asli Santra Deshi” for sale in Haryana only and 6 cartons with 48 quarters in each i.e. 288 quarters of “Impact Grain Whisky” for sale in Haryana Only.

In this regard, an FIR No.500/18 dated 25.12.2018, u/s 33/58 Delhi Excise Act, PS Dwarka South was registered and the accused was arrested.The Sx4 car No. DL-1CX-5225 SX4 being used in carrying illegal liquor was found registered in the name of the accused.

During interrogation it was revealed that Dharambir used to collect liquor from PVC market near BusStand Bahadur Garh and come through the route, that is village Nilwal to Bakkarwala to Mohan Garden Nala to Uttam Nagar to Janak Puri to Dabri to Power House Sec-1,Dwarka, where he was caught. He further disclosed that he has to deliver the consignment in Palam. He is a habitual offender and found previously involved in 3 cases of excise and theft.
