Young IPS officer Ravi Kumar is presently the Addl. SP and Circle Officer (ASP/CO) of Indirapuram comprising sensitive police stations such as Indirapuram and Khoda. He has been taking a number of measures to put a lid on crime in the vast area that is prone to petty crimes such as chain & mobile snatchings owing to proximity to Delhi and Noida, that makes it easier for criminals to commit crime and escape to these cities.
And as the winter season suits many criminals as fewer people venture out in night, the police has put in a detailed plan to target them. Ravi Kumar said that apart from day-time patrolling the patrolling parties have been asked to be vigilant between 2 am- 5 am in the wee hours, as this is a time when criminals strike due to oftener thin human and police presence. He said that the cops have been told to wake-up the society guards if they were found to be sleeping and to tell them to be vigilant during these hours.
The young IPS officer pointed out that barriers are being placed at strategic locations for frisking during night apart from routine patrolling. So far such barriers have been placed at 3 places and more will follow, he said.
Ravi Kumar also elaborated that a 3 layered security apparatus has been designed for night patrolling wherein the first consists of cops at Chowki and police station level consisting of PC, Leopard bikes which are being watched over by mobile teams which again are being watched over by CO level officers, especially between between 12 am and 5 am.
“Cops in plainclothes have been posted at locations vulnerable to crime such as outside Metro stations and other public places to keep a watch on criminals, especially those who ride on high-speed bikes,” Ravi Kumar remarked. He said that after a new police station comes up in Kaushambi- probably in a year’s time, policing will be easier.
