Noida Authority has got a waste segregation and disposal machine at a cost of Rs 8 cr that is being billed as the first-of-its-kind machine anywhere in northern India. The machine has been put up in Sector 54, Noida. It can dispose of 400 metric tonne (MT) waste in 8 hours. Once inside the machine garbage will be segregated into organic and non-organic items and plastic and compost will be segregated like this. Under the process there will be no stink emanating from the waste, it is being claimed. The by-products including compost would be used for horticultural activities while other products could have use in construction industry. The authority is figuring out how to manage this. But the important thing is that heaps of garbage can be disposed of like this in a speedier manner.
