Ghaziabad Police claimed to have busted the brazen dacoity of Nov. 14 in which jewellery slated to be worth crores was looted from one Prem Shree jewelers in Shyam Park area of Sahibabad. It came out that the mastermind of the crime was a local resident Aarush alias Malik who is a resident of Rajendra Nagar, Ghaziabad. Aarush roped in 3 others to carry out the heist. All 4 have been arrested by the police.

Giving details ADG Meerut Zone, Prashant Kumar said that Aarush, a notorious criminal used to target jewellers and had previously been to jail in similar crimes. He used to survey the scene of crime on foot, noting down in details where CCTV cameras were placed as well as other nitty-gritties, such as the number of people at a particular time.

In jail Aarush became acquainted with Manoj Kumar Pandey, another notorious criminal who was lodged in jail on kidnapping charges. Both then started staying at a rented accommodation at Azadpur, Delhi. Pandey called in Naveen Pandit who used to work as a waiter and who lived at Prahladgarhi in Vasundhara, Ghaziabad. While visiting Sahibabad area in Ghaziabad Aarush saw the Prem Shree Jeweller’s showroom and noticed lacunae in security. This led him to plan the heist. He made a recce of the route and CCTV cameras among others. He also talked to his cousin Vineet who stole a black Pulsar bike and Naveen also stole another bike. Both bikes were parked at Prahladgarhi ahead of dacoity. On Diwali day all accused assembled at Prahladgarhi but due to a crowd of customers at the showroom they did not carry out the plan. On November 14 they all came together again and riding on 2 stolen bikes struck at the jewellery showroom wearing masks and helmets. They overpowered the staff and decamped with jewellery worth crores. On their way back they took the Sahibabad Underpass and then via Vasundhara went to UP Gate and then again came back towards Prahladgarhi where they kept the bikes. They then parted ways.

The police seized 2 pistols and rounds, 2 country-made pistols, jewellery items, both bikes and some other items.
