Supreme Court has asked Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) to initiate legal proceedings against officials who had failed to control pollution in Delhi-NCR. The prosecution could attract a prison sentence and an additional fine. Notably, CPCB had received 749 complaints between Nov. 1-22 related to air pollution through its online complaint platforms including app and social media, out of which the SC was told that 500 complaints had been red addressed.  The order was passed by justices Madan B Lokur and Deepak Gupta.
