In a major crackdown against liquor mafia anywhere in Uttar Pradesh, a police team of Khalilabad Police Station of Sant Kabir Nagar seized a truck bearing Haryana no. carrying 445 cartons of illicit Indian English liquor blended in Haryana and arrested 2 persons namely Satish alias Rajesh and Balkari, both residents of Sonipat, Haryana. The haul is said to be worth Rs 30 lakhs informed SP Akash Tomar. Fake bill books were also seized from their possession.  The accused have been booked under sections 419 / 420 / 467 / 468 / 471 and sections 60 / 63 /72 of Excise Act.

The accused used to smuggle in liquor from Haryana in the garb of ferrying cattle feed. The liquor was sold in various states like Bihar and West Bengal. They were intercepted by the police when they were going towards West Bengal after having food at Haryana dhaba at Sant Kabir Nagar in intervening night of Nov 15/16.

The seized liquor comprises: 67 cartons of Royal Stag whiskey (375 ml); 297 cartons of Royal Stag (180 ml); 81 cartons of Officers Choice (Blue) whiskey (180 ml). Besides, they were also carrying cattle feed such as Chana Bhusi, Dhan Bhusi and the like, 2 ATM cards, bills among other such things.
