Ghaziabad Police rounds up 6 notorious snatchers in 24 hrs; 37 mobile sets seized

The snatchers were arrested by police teams of Sahibabad and Kavi Nagar police stations

In a crackdown against incidents of snatchings, Ghaziabad Police rounded up 6 notorious snatchers in a span of 24 hours. In the first instance, a team of cops from Sahibabad Police Station arrested 2 accused on intervening night of November 4/5 from near Krishna Engineering College along with 20 looted android mobile sets, 2 pistols and cartridges and one Apache bike used in loot. This information was shared by SSP Vaibhav Krishna.

In another instance a Kavi Nagar police team apprehended 4 snatchers from Purana Bus Adda area along with 17 looted mobile phones and two stolen bikes. The accused are repeat offenders and several of them have been to jail under similar offences from Ghaziabad, Noida and Delhi. The accused are namely Sahil, Akbar alias Cobra, Vikas alias Gauri, Ashok Saini, Ravindra Saini and Kamal.

Akbar has been to jail from under Indirapuram Police Station in similar offences in January.

The accused told the police that they used to target passers-by in posh localities of NCR in order to lay their hands on high-end mobile sets that would fetch a good price when sold. reporter
