Traffic Month is being observed in whole of UP starting November and it began in Sant Kabir Nagar by the district police chief and SP Akash Tomar and other officials of the police force flagging off a motorcycle rally that started from the police lines via Mehndawal Bypass, Madhu Kunj Intersection, Gola Bazar, Bank Intersection, Moti T-point, Mukhlispur T-point, Sabzi Mandi, Durga Mandir Digha Bypass and again back. CO Khalilabad, Ramesh Kumar, CO Ashok KUmar SIngh and other cops were also present at the flagging off event.
SP Akash Tomar instructed all senior police officers, COs and SOs to see that traffic rules are being followed in the district and violations should be dealt with in the strictest possible manner. He also asked them to sensitise people about traffic rules, especially students of schools and colleges by dissemination information through pamphlets and hoardings as well as through the medium of auto drivers and public transport. Besides, through patrolling on foot and by interacting face to face with shop owners and other members of public an awareness drive could be launched said the SP.
Tomar also asked the policemen to organise camps for auto owners, rickshaw owners, e-rickshaw owners etc and to gather them at one place to sensitise them about properly following traffic rules and to organise BP check, eye & ear camps for them.
The SP also asked the fellow policemen to disseminate information about following of traffic rules through social media such as twitter, facebook and WhatsApp where they can appeal to the public to wear helmets and seat belts and to follow traffic discipline.
For the whole month the policemen should also engage in organising quiz, painting and essay competitions in schools and colleges in their area as well as to remove encroachments in their area for smoother traffic flow, the SP said.
