Residents of several areas in Indirapuram are reporting severe lack of water supply and have blamed the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) for this fiasco. Notably, after the stoppage of Ganga water supply from Upper Ganga Canal the GDA has been supplying water from its tubewells but this is not sufficient to meet the demands of the residents who often have to go without adequate water supply. The CWR that stores water during the night to supply it only one time in the morning hours is not getting filled up leading to scarcity of water in areas such as Nyay Khand, Shakti Khand, Ahinsa Khand and Niti Khand—more or less the whole of Indirapuram.
A GDA engineer who did not wish to be named said that the authority is making its best efforts to supply water onetime however, rising population and worn out pipelines are leading to inefficient supply. He said that the supply problems will be rectified from tomorrow.
However many residents pointed out that despite charging high taxes the GDA is repeating the same old story once again. They are planning to meet the VC GDA to get their grievance redressed.
