A complaint was made at Kotwali Police Station on Oct 10 about a missing girl upon which the police registered an FIR under section 366. There was no information on the whereabouts of the girl. This information was shared by CO I, Dharmendra Singh Chouhan.
However, the police got a tip-off from an informer about the missing girl having been seen with one Deepak on September 29, travelling towards Khajuri Pusta Road in a car along with him. After a probe Deepak, a resident of Loni, was taken into custody on Oct 31 and he confessed to murdering the girl whom he was close to since the last 2-3 years. Deepak also said that he and the girl often frequented each other’s house. He further told the police that the girl had started to blackmail him for money again and again and this irked him so much that he decided to eliminate her.
The accused took the girl to Haridwar and in a drunken state strangled her with her dupatta. Thereafter, he disposed of her body in a canal. The police recovered handbag and mobile belonging to the deceased from Deepak’s house. He has been booked under sections 364/302/201 of IPC.
