Despite complaints made by several residents Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam seems to be in no mood to remove illegal hawkers and street peddlers along Sector 17 main road and a connecting road up to Hindon Canal Road, said several residents of nearby housing societies such as Green View, Shikhar Enclave, Konark Enclave and 17 H. This despite the fact that the Nagar Nigam had put up a wire fencing but still hawkers have broken this wire fencing from various points, allege residents. These hawkers do not seem to have any fear of the Nagar Nigam it seems.
delhincrnews.in has pointed out a few days’ back how these hawkers and illegal vendors have broken the wire fencing and are going about their business as usual without any fear of law. Residents of Sector 17 G & H blocks as well as Shikhar Enclave, Vasundhara had complained about the nuisance caused by these illegal encroachers and the resultant traffic bottlenecks in the evenings.
With Diwali ahead the hawkers have increased their wares and more hawkers have joined in, that could result in further chaos. Residents of Sector 17 said that they have also made a complaint to Prahladgarhi Police Chowki but to no avail.
Several residents said that if this continues they will take up the matter with the DM.
