Encroachers in the garb of roadside vendors and hawkers who were some time back removed by Vasundhara Zone team of Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN) are back again along main road of Vasundhara in Sectors 15, 16 & 17 as well as along the road connecting Sector 17 with Hindon Canal Road. Many such squatters come here right in the morning while many set sop in the evenings when they are back in full strength. They had also damaged the fencing that was put up along the roadsides by GNN to stop encroachments and are using the damaged part as entry point.

Despite delhincrnews.in raising the issue with Vasundhara Zone after several residents of Sector 17 Blocks G, F and Shikhar Enclave, Sector 15, so far no action has been taken against these encroachers who have covered the footpaths. Notably, GNN has with much fanfare conducted drive against encroachments mostly to free the big storm water drains after NGT order.

Residents complain that all these encroachers are outsiders who set shop here and throw litter in the drains thereby choking them. The residents also also allege that these vendors and hawkers often misbehave with the local residents especially women and seem to have tacit support of local cops and Nigam officials.
