A wanted criminal under Gangsters Act who was absconding since the last 13 years and carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head was rounded up by a team of Kavi Nagar Police Station cops after a brief exchange of fire after which he was overpowered by the police party. The accused Ashok alias Pavva alias Tau was wanted in connection with a dacoity in a factory at Sahibabad in 2004 wherein the accused along with his aides had taken hostage a guard and had decamped with cloth and licencee gun of the guard. The gun was recovered by the police in 2005 that also recovered looted items from Noida and Muradnagar areas. This information was shared by SSP Vaibhav Krishna.

Kavi Nagar Police Station incharge, Rojent Tyagi after receiving a tip-off about the presence of the accused arrested him from Central School, Sector 23 after which he and his team arrested the accused. One pistol and 2 live rounds were seized from him. The accused has at least 10 criminal cases registered against him.
