Vasundhara Zone of Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam is under a severe water crisis after the Ganga water supply got snapped due to cleaning of the Upper Ganga Canal (Gang Nahar) in Haridwar. Residents of several sectors are getting just 20 minutes water supply in 24 hrs that is not sufficient to meet the demand.

However, residents are aghast that this could have been planned in a better way considering that both UP & Uttarakhand have the same party governments.

Residents of several sectors in Vasundhara and Vaishali are complaining about just a 15 minute to half an hour supply, that too only in the morning that the Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam is supplying through its tubewells. In Sector 1,13,15 & 17 of Vasundhara the residents said that never before have they encountered such a short supply of water as it is now.

The water crisis is more severe in Vasundhara’s Sector 17 where thousands live. JE Somendra Pratap Singh said that work on new tubewells at GNN’s Water Works facility at Sector 15 is in progress and hopefully would be operational soon.
