Squatters who were removed by Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN), Vasundhara Zone, some time back have returned again on Sector 17 and 15 along the main road with the onset of Navratri season. This led to jams in Vasundhara Sector 17 connecting road from today (Oct. 9) and several residents of nearby societies have already started complaining. According to Kailash Joshi of Sector 17 H (Green View Apartments), “It was difficult for me to pass through Sector 17 T-point to reach the entry gate of my society as the squatters selling Navratri wares are sitting outside the fencing put up by the GNN some days back” In fact, the fencing ironically is leading to more jams as the squatters have now started encroaching upon the road space too. Joshi said that people from outside are flocking these illegal shops thereby blocking the area.
Several other residents of Shikhar Enclave in Sector 15 and H Block have complained about the encroachments leading to jams. “All of a sudden these people have come here to sell their items that should be disallowed,” said Shivani Goel, a resident.
As the encroachments and jams built up toward the evening GNN officials could not be reached for comment. A police jeep from Prahladgarhi Police Chowki also made a customary round but did not seemed concerned to remove the encroachers.
