Three notorious inter-state thieves and a jeweller who bought stolen jewellery were arrested by a team of cops from Kotwali Police Station from near Vijay Nagar Bypass bridge after a tip-off. The informant told the police team that was stationed near Jaseepura T-point about the 3 suspicious persons seated in a Swift Dzire car near this point striking a deal with the jeweller. The police surrounded the 4 and seized gold & silver jewellery worth lakhs besides Rs 15,000 cash and other valuables from the accused that they had stolen from Kotwali area and Shastri Nagar area of Kavi Nagar Police Station. The accused are Rahimuddin alias Rahim (Ghaziabad resident), 35, Amit alias Kalia Jatav, 38, Abdul Rahman, 35 and Raju Saini, all trio from Meerut.
Rahimuddin was in jail for a murder and served a sentence of 15 years. He and Amit had planned these thefts while in jail. Both are history-sheeters having several criminal cases against their names.
The accused revealed that they used to break into flats in gated societies that were locked and decamped with valuables that they could lay their hands upon. Before carrying out a theft they used to recce the particular house or flat that they targeted.
