Canola Oil is mainly used for stir-frying, grilling, baking, salad dressing and sauteing in food sector. In India, 106 tonnes of Canola oil valued at $150 thousand, was imported in the year 2017 and the imports have been increasing at conservative rates in recent years with imports spiking in 2012 and 2016, said a press statement that further added that as per American Heart Association, Canola oil contains least amount of saturated fats (bad fats), 7g per 100g, as compared to any other cooking oil and is best suited for people with cardiovascular diseases.
Ravinder Pal Singh Kohli, Director, Jivo Wellness, said, “The Indian Canola Oil market has just seen its nascent phase. The Indian consumer has got the first exposure and education about the immense health benefits of Canola Oil. The rising medical costs have made the consumers more aware of their health needs. We expect the Indian canola oil growth story to be in double digits per annum for at least the next decade.”
