SOS Children’s Villages of India (SOS India) has joined hands with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for its ‘No child should grow up alone’ campaign, which aims to create awareness among public about the importance of a family-like environment for parentless and abandoned children, said a press statement
India is home to 20 million children who do not receive adequate parental care. This campaign is aimed at reaching out to 1,500 to 2,000 daily Delhi Metro commuters for generating awareness and a sense of responsibility, so that parentless children are taken care of and grow up to be proud, confident and productive citizens of India. The campaign will run across three earmarked Delhi Metro stations, viz, Rajiv Chowk, Kashmere Gate and Janakpuri West.
Anuja Bansal, Secretary General, SOS India, said, “We, at SOS India, are focused to provide a safe and caring family to all children, so that no Rahul or Ria spend sleepless nights alone on streets and no Sunil is left hungry. ‘No Child should grow up alone’ campaign is a step to ensure that over 26,000 parentless and abandoned children under the care of SOS Children’s Villages of India get complete support till they are skilled to be job-ready and independent.”
While expressing deep concern and desire to provide parentless and abandoned children a safe environment to grow, Bansal added, “Let’s focus on their today and collectively will we construct their tomorrow.”
