Delhi Cabinet on August 10 cleared a proposal to install 1.4 lakh CCTV cameras in the capital not heeding Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash’s views that it was being done in a hurry. The Delhi Assembly also passed a resolution to remove the Chief Secretary accusing him of working at the behest of Centre.

CM Arvind Kejriwal said that installation of CCTV cameras will act as a deterrent against crime. The estimated project cost of the project to be executed by PWD is around Rs 571.40 crores.
