It has come to light that many housing societies in Greater Noida West (Noida Extension) are discharging their sewage into storm water drains and not through STP plants made by the builders. In many occasion, it has been found that the sewerage system made by the builder of these housing societies have not been put to use mainly because of high costs of running them. However, as an estimated 10 lakh population will be coming to live in Noida extension flats in as many as 2.5 lakh flats the problem could reach alarming proportions with the sewage spilling over from these drains posing a health problem.

The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority also has provision of its own STP and has now decided to look into complaints of builder societies not using their individual STPs for proper disposal of sewer waste.
