Operation Gherabandi—that was previously also conducted in June—was conducted by Ghaziabad Police on July 11 in the wake of rising incidents of chain and mobile snatchings from passers-by. Under the drive special emphasis was on violation by two-wheeler owners and youngsters who have been found to be violating the law, such as 3 persons riding a two-wheeler at a time.

Under the drive around 216 vehicles were seized for not having proper documents, 618 vehicles were challaned, and Rs 45,000 penalty was recovered from traffic violators. Four persons were arrested from whom 14 litres of liquor and one knife were recovered.

The 3 persons arrested are from Vijay Nagar while one is from Sahibabad. Maximum 71 vehicles were seized in the district from Loni Thana area while the maximum of Rs 15,300 were recovered as penalty for challan from Loni Border Thana area where 41 challans were made.
