Ghaziabad Police overpowered and arrested 2 bootleggers after they received a tip-off about some persons who were travelling in an Esteem car with illicit liquor and who were armed, near Sihani Gate area. Upon this SHO Sihani Gate Police Station Sanjay Pandey formed a team under Anti-Auto Theft Cell Incharge Saurabh Shukla who went to the identified spot alongwith SI Ravindra Singh and SI Narendra Kumar and other cops. As the team spotted the Esteem car near Pushta, Shani Mandir, Nand Gram and asked the occupants to stop, one occupant of the car started firing on the team. The police using adequate force overpowered the 2 suspects with 25 cartons of illicit liquor. One country-made pistol and one live round and one spent one was also recovered from them.

The accused told the police that they used to smuggle the illicit liquor from Arunachal Pradesh in the car and would sell it in UP.

Both accused Farman and Furkaan are from Adarsh Nagar area in Nand Gram, Sihani Gate. Case against them has been registered under relevant sections.
