Screening for early detection of Breast, Cervical and Oral Cancer is a crying need especially in the states where the cancer incidents and resultant deaths are high, Haryana and Delhi are among these states.
In order to spread awareness, carry out screening and early detection and thereby enabling timely treatment, IFFCO TOKIO General Insurance (ITGI) is starting a campaign of 20 Cancer Awareness, Screening and Detection camps against the most common cancers in the women i.e. breast and cervical cancer and oral cancer in both men and women in the NCR region. The camps are being organized by Roko Cancer Charitable Trust under the health care CSR initiative of the ITGI.
The first camp was organized at the Chikitsa Dispensary, Sector 40, Gurugram, on June 27, 2018. The camp was inaugurated by the CEO and Managing Director of the ITGI, Warendra Sinha. On this occasion, Ramesh Kumar (ED, ITGI) and senior officials from Roko Cancer Charitable Trust were also present.
On the spot Mammography and PAP smear tests were done for suspected high-risk cases in a mobile Unit fitted with the state of the art equipment and machinery. The main beneficiaries of these camps were women from slums, rural and underprivileged section. It is an example of exemplary utilization of the CSR Funds for the most deserving social cause. The initiative by ITGI for this much needed cause will help underprivileged people, especially women to be aware about Cancer and its signs and symptoms and will also help in early detection of Cancer so as to ensure timely treatment.
