In a murder that reflects the changing dynamics of human relationships, a 26-yr-old woman was murdered by his live-in partner at Khoda colony who fled after the neighbours and onlookers got the wind of what he was upto. However, the police arrested him today from Khoda.
Narrating the whole incident SSP Ghaziabad, Vaibhav Krishna—flanked by SP City Akash Tomar and ASP Indirapuram, Ravi Kumar—said that the accused Shivam Virdi and the deceased Jyoti Verma were in a live-in relationship and were staying at a rented accommodation belonging to one Ram Naresh Tripathi of Nehru Garden, Khoda.
The accused who originally hailed from Ludhiana, Punjab was working in Vivo Company at Noida for the last 10 months. Jyoti Verma who knew Shivam Virdi and who also belonged to Ludhiana in Punjab came to live with him at Khoda about 8 months back and started working at the Lakme Salon in Indirapuram. However, their relationship turned sour after Jyoti started coming late from work which led the accused to suspect that she was cheating on him. They had frequent altercations and in a fit of rage Shivam Virdi stabbed Jyoti with a kitchen knife that led to her death.
Thereafter, Shivam Virdi kept her dead body inside a big trolley bag for 3 days while he slept in the room in the night. On June 12 when the body started to decay Virdi booked a cab and was trying to keep the bag into the car when due to foul stench people of the locality surrounded him, upon which he fled. He was arrested today by a team of Khoda cops led by SHO Dharmendra Kumar from Labour Chowk in Khoda. Documents belonging to the deceased like passport, aadhar card, pass book, degrees among others were recovered from the accused. The police also recovered the knife used in crime.
