Ghaziabad Police launched Operation Gherabandi on June 11 at various points across the city that started from 6 pm and ended around 10 pm. The drive was launched as a crime control measure in the wake of snatching incidents and to round up snatchers who are on the prowl during these hours. The focus was mainly on two-wheelers specially on bike borne youth and where more than 2 riders were riding.

The drive saw a total of 207 vehicles getting penalized under Motor Vehicles Act, for not having proper papers and documents out of which 188 were seized, 1,188 vehicles were challaned and Rs 1,45,300 were recovered as fine. The police also arrested 14 persons during the drive from whom 6 kg of Gaanja, 96 quarters of illicit liquor, one mobile phone, one stolen bike and 2 knives were seized.
