A team of cops from Kotwali Police Station in Ghaziabad apprehended 3 notorious mobile snatchers from near Red Mall at Naya Bus Adda area, it was revealed today by SP City, Akash Tomar.

While the police team led by SHO Jaikaran Singh and consisting of SI Mahir Zaidi, SI Atul Kumar Chouhan, SI Shiv Bhushan Dikshit and SI Karamveer Singh were on a routine checking drive near Red Mall when they saw 3 bike borne youths coming from Lal Kuan side towards and headed towards Delhi. As the police party asked them to stop they sped up that led to their chase by putting up barriers. The police managed to stop them and frisked them upon which they found 3 knives and 15 mobiles of different make on their person. One Apache bike and Rs 1,000 cash were also recovered from them.

On their interrogation they admitted to having committed mobile snatchings at various different places across the city including in Sihani Gate, Link Road, Indirapuram, among other areas.

The 3 accused are namely Shahnawaz, 21; Kasim alias Nazim, 20 years; and Ragiv, 21, all residents of Hapur.

The 3 accused are history-sheeters with at least 17 cases registered against Shahnawaz at Hapur and Ghaziabad. Nazim has at least 10 cases against him at various police station areas in Ghaziabad, while Ragiv has 8 cases against him at various police station areas in Ghaziabad.
