Municipal Commissioner, Chandra Prakash Singh today at 9.30 am visited Vasundhara and Mohan Nagar zones and took stock of the work being done by Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN) in these areas.
Singh visited Vaishali where he saw first-hand the condition of drain wall of Sahibabad Drain. RWA members and Nigam staff including its civil engineers were present. They were asked to speed up the work of the wall and to do it in a qualitative manner. He also gave instruction to the Chief Engineer for beautification of the green belt and for repair of the central verge.
The RWA members thanked Singh for the wall work and for removal of garbage dumping site from that place.
After Vaishali, the Municipal Commissioner also went to Sahibabad Site 4 Industrial area to have a look at the drain, where he found that the silt taken out from the drain had not been disposed of despite being dry. Upon this he gave a stern warning to Yogendra Yadav, Sanitation Inspector, to get the silt removed by tomorrow morning and also give a feedback.
Chandra Prakash Singh also visited Vrindavan Garden area in Mohan Nagar Zone. Residents here complained that in the rainy season roads get waterlogged that hampers the movement of public as well as vehicles. Singh assured them to take steps to tackle the problem of waterlogging and passed directions for the same to the engineering department. He also found cleanliness work of the roads up to the mark here.
Notably, the issue of storm water drains has been a complex one and the NGT had previously in an order asked that the Sahibabad drain should not be covered. It had also asked the GNN to implement its order by taking action against the encroachers who had covered the drain and were running commercial activities along Link Road.
