National Mathematics Day—that could not be celebrated on December 22 last year—was celebrated on May 20 at Regional Science & Technology Centre (RSTC) in Ghaziabad from May 16-20 in which a ‘workshop on aerodynamics’ was held for 40 science/maths teachers. The day is celebrated in remembrance of Dr Srinivasa Ramanujan, the renowned mathematician.

The workshop aimed at bringing and enhancing teaching skills and to learn teaching maths and science in a practical manner to students through models. Well-known mathematician from Bangalore Dr V Shivashankar Shastri and from Meerut, Mohammad Mateen Ansari were present on the occasion. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Rakesh Gangwar, Joint Director, Science and Technology Department, UP. Regional Scientific Officer, Dr Mahadeo Pandey and workshop coordinator Dr Vivek Sudarshan explained the concepts to the gathering.
