Battle for Karnataka hots up as both BJP and JD(S) coalition stake claim to form government

Karnataka is witnessing a flurry of activity after the election results with the Congress and JD(S) seemingly in a hurry to reach out to the Governor for government formation. These parties have also alleged that the BJP is trying to poach their MLAs to cobble up a majority.

Both the JD(S) chief HD Kumaraswamy and BJP’s CM candidate SM Yeddyurappa yesterday met Governor Vajubhai Vala to stake their respective claims to form the government. The JD(S) believes that it ahs the first right to form the government as with Congress support it has 117 MLAs that is more than 112 MLAs (majority mark) required to form the government.

However, as the single largest party BJP feels that the Governor should invite the party and ask it if it is in a position to form the government. bureau
