District Magistrate Ritu Maheshwari took a meeting of senior power corporation officials. CDO Ramesh Ranjan was also present during the meeting. The DM asked the power corporation official to ensure proper electric supply in summer months and to check whether the power roster is functioning as it should be. In addition, steps should be taken to grant new connections, install new meters wherever necessary and to recover the amount pending from defaulters. She also asked the officials to organise camps for new connections, meters and for recovery from defaulters.
The DM also instructed the Chief Engineer to check electric supply daily. The Chief engineer apprised the DM that in the current fiscal 1,248 incidents of power thefts have been reported and 214 FIRs have been registered for the offence. An amount of Rs 31.93 lakh has been recovered from these power thieves. He also said that Rs 3,336 cr revenue has been earned from payment of bills.
The Chief Engineer further said that 14 sub stations out of 17 have been built and 2 more sub stations will be commissioned from this month itself. He said that 7,70,779 connections were operational in the district out of which 65,291 connections have been given last year in April.
