Municipal Commissioner, Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam, Chandra Prakash Singh today at 6 am in the morning, visited several areas under Kavi Nagar Zone of Ghaziabad, including Open Defecation Free (ODF) locations to take stock of the ground situation. In this brief sojourn he visited Mehrauli, Razapur, Kavi Nagar Industrial Area, Shastri Nagar and Govindpuram Grain Market.
Near Mehrauli Gate, only one mobile toilet in place of 2 were functional. Hence, Municipal Commissioner asked the staff to immediately make arrangement for one more mobile toilet.
Heaps of litter were found in Razapur area and the drains were also brimming; this made Singh furious and he reprimanded the area sanitation supervisor Nempal and ordered him to clean up the area. He warned that soon he would visit the area again and if there is any trace of litter, strict action would be taken against the concerned Nigam staffer.
Kavi Nagar Industrial Area was also found with garbage strewn across. The Municipal Commissioner asked the area supervisor Akash to clean up the mess. He also asked the staff to remove and impose penalty on a fruit vendor near Uttam Public School in Kavi Nagar who had encroached upon public space causing traffic jams. The vendor was fined Rs 500 for the offence.
The same story of litter and heaps of garbage was repeated in Shastri Nagar locality. Here a shopkeeper had strewn debris outside his shop and along the road. Singh asked the area supervisor to get the debris removed and further to fine the shopkeeper.
Chaudhray Charan Singh Park at Govindpuram was found to be in a neat & clean state and an organisation was found to be working towards cleaning and greening the area for which the Municipal Commissioner appreciated their efforts. In the park he also discussed with the people issues concerning cleanliness and took their feedback.
Singh concluded his visit at Govindpuram where he asked the Nigam officials to keep the area in and around the grain market clean.
