In a meeting at his office in Meerut on April 20, Divisional Commissioner, Dr Prabhat Kumar directed all concerned officials and employees to focus on ensuring: that water reaches the last part of canals in the areas under irrigatable areas in the division; to streamlining of working of all wheat procurement centres; working towards rejuvenation of 50-50 ponds in each block; formulation of a 5-yr-plan of development for every village; to take action against complaints received against the Gram Pradhans; among other works.
Kumar especially focused his attention upon Hindon and its tributaries and said that an action taken report along with pictures should be uploaded on website meant for the purpose by May 10. In addition he also directed all officials to focus upon reaching out to the poor beneficiaries in the chain who were in greatest need of government help. He also asked the staff to prepare an action plan to deal with dry and flood-like conditions.
Further, Kumar also asked the officials concerned to get rid of problems being faced by ODF scheme and to stop blackmarketing of food ration, among other things.
It was apprised by Joint Development commissioner, AB Mishra that so far 694 lakes/ponds have been identified for rejuvenation in the division. DMs of several districts including Ghaziabad DM Ritu Maheshwari, DM Meerut Anil Dhingra, DM Gautam Budh Nagar BN Singh, DM Bulandshahar Anuj Jha, DM Baghpat Rishirendra Kumar and other officials were present in the meeting.
