Kachra Mahotsav will be held in the district on April 22-23 at Ramlila Ground, it was informed by District Magistrate (DM), Ritu Maheshwari. The main objective of organizing this event is to raise awareness and to promote proper waste recycling among the masses. Giving details the DM said that for the event more than 5 dozen schools and colleges, NGOs, RWAs and local urban bodies. Several events and exhibitions showcasing waste management and recycling will be held during the Kachra Mahotsav. The participants will be allotted stalls free-of-cost.
Maheshwari had asked the Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam to provide all facilities such as toilet and water and to ensure that the venue remains clean throughout the Mahotsav. Ahead of the event the Nigam would also begin a cleanliness drive in all 5 zones. There is also a plan to distribute pamphlets to the people.
Further, ADM (Admin), Gyanendra Singh informed that a band from Dharavi in Mumbai has been invited. All musical instruments of this band are made from waste.
On April 22 a 5-km-run Run for Clean and Green Ghaziabad will be organized from 7 am in the morning on Hindon Elevated Road in which an estimated 5,000 school children and 2,000 other people will also participate.
