With the arrest of a notorious autolifter namely Mohammad Imran of Lohiya Nagar, MDA Colony, Meerut, 34, a team of AATS/ East District worked out 21 cases of auto theft of Delhi & NCR. The arrested accused is already involved in 23 cases of auto theft and he has admitted to be involved in more than 400 incidents of auto theft during the last nine years.
On April 6, HC Jitender received a tip-off about coming of an autolifter in the area of Paper market, Gazipur on a stolen motorcycle. HC Sandeep and Ct. Anil further developed the information and thereafter, a team of AATS/East District under the close supervision of ACP/Operations, Rakesh Dixit and under Inspector D.P. Singh consisting of SI M.K.Manoj, SI Pankaj Kumar, ASI Omender Kumar, ASI Dharmender, ASI Ram Charan, ASI Yash Pal, HC Sandeep, HC Raj Kumar, Ct Anil Kumar and Ct. Tej Pratap Singh was constituted.
A trap was laid down at Paper Market, Gazipur, Delhi. After waiting for a while, a person on a motorcycle was seen coming from the side of Khoda Colony. After getting signal from the informer, he was stopped by the AATS team. He tried to escape from the spot but was overpowered by the team members. On enquiries, it was found that the motor cycle on which he was driving had been stolen from the area of PS Mandawali, Delhi.
The accused used to steal the motorcycle particularly from outside the banks and commercial places. He used to take only 20 seconds to unlock/break the lock of the motorcycle with the help of the master keys. He used to come to Delhi/Ghaziabad by bus from Meerut and go back on the stolen motorcycle.
