Petrol and diesel prices hit an all-time high thanks to the firming of global crude prices that has led to price revision by oil marketing companies. In Delhi petrol will cost Rs 73.73 a litre and diesel 64.58 a litre. About 4 years’ back petrol prices had touched Rs 76.06 a litre. In Ghaziabad a litre of petrol will cost around Rs 75.13 and roughly the same in Noida. Diesel prices in Delhi touched Rs 64.69 a litre.
The Centre had slashed excise duty on petrol last October by Rs 2. But despite the Oil Ministry’s concern the excise duty was not cut further to nullify the constantly increasing prices of oil.
Meanwhile,cooking gas or PNG is set to become costlier from April 2 it was announced by IGL. Right now the price of PNG in Delhi is Rs 25.19 while in NCR cities it is Rs 26.73 per scm. This is set to increase to Rs 28.84 per scm.
The price of CNG also has been increased. It will cost Rs 40.61 up by 90 paise a kilo. In Ghaziabad, Noida and Gr.Noida CNG will now cost Rs 47.05 a kilo.
