At least 4 persons have reportedly died and others taken ill after consuming adulterated liquor in Ghaziabad’s Khoda colony today. Soon after this news spread senior police and administration officials reached the spot and the victims were rushed to a hospital in Delhi where they were declared brought dead.
Following the incident, District Magistrate Ritu Maheshwari and SSP Hari Narayan Singh jointly inspected the scene of tragedy and thereafter suspended Khoda’s SHO Dhruv Bhushan Dube , SI Ram Samajh Rana, beat constables Rajveer Singh and Mohammad Askari. The incident sent the administration into a tizzy and policemen in colonies such as Vijay Nagar were seen frisking the slum areas for any illegal liquor business that was going on.
The DM has also proposed suspension of the area Excise Inspector and two other excise officials.
Meanwhile in Lucknow, CM Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the liquor deaths and expressed sorrow at the deaths. The CM has directed the district administration to provide all possible help to those in need of medical treatment and has asked officials to take strictest possible action against the liquor mafia in the area.
