Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana has become operational in Ghaziabad district. This was informed today by District Magistrate, Ghaziabad, Ritu Maheshwari while she presided over a meeting of the district officials. Maheshwari instructed the officials of agriculture, horticulture and irrigation department to implement the scheme in a way so that its benefits reach each farmer.
The DM said that under this scheme drip and sprinkler system of irrigation are used and instruments for these systems are provided to the farmers. District horticulture officer, Anoop Kumar Chaturvedi said that the motto of the scheme is ‘per drop more crop’. Farmers have to register under the scheme online through the website. Through the use of this scheme up to 70% of water can be saved and lesser amount of fertilizers are used. The scheme is useful for barren and rocky land also and it also leads to a 25% more produce, he said. Besides, there are a host of other benefits of availing this scheme, it was informed. Around 400 farmers have so far registered to avail of the scheme.
