As many as 22 MoUs worth Rs. 21,000 crore were signed for electronics sector in presence of the Union Minister for IT & Electronics, Ravishankar Prasad, and the UP Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for IT and Electronics, Dr. Dinesh Sharma during the Investors’ Summit. On the occasion, Ravishankar Prasad and Dr. Dinesh Sharma also launched ”e-Sathi Mobile App”. The app, developed by UP unit of NIC, will provide about 20 services.
Addressing a session on ”IT & ITeS: Serving the World”, Ravishankar Prasad said that the positive ambience for investment created by the UP Government would prove a milestone in future. India can be transformed into the most developed country only by harnessing the power of technology. In India about 121 crore people out of its total population of 130 crore are using mobile phone today. Out of these users, about 45 crore are using smart phones, while 120 crore are linked with Aadhar. He said that India had to become a world power. He said that the Government of India had approved a scheme of Rs. 6,774 crore for expansion of Oppo and Samsung in Noida. He added that 54 out of 118 mobile phone factories in India were located in UP. It is a matter of pride that exports worth Rs. 17,000 crore goes from Noida region, he added.
The Deputy Chief Minister, Dinesh Sharma said that the state government was planning to develop Lucknow as an IT hub. For this purpose, the first instalment had been paid for the land identified at Nadarganj (Amausi). Soon, the land will be taken into possession and construction work will be started. It will have an IT park, State Data Centre, hostel/guesthouse for mentors, etc. The country’s largest incubators will also be set up here.
