The 2-day Uttar Pradesh Investors Summit 2018—a dream project of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath kickstarted today at a glittering ceremony that was attended by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, Governor Ram Naik top industrialists of the country and minister and bureaucrats.
PM Modi said that a Defence Industrial Corridor will be set up in UP, probably Bundelkhand region, generating 2.5 lakh jobs for the people of the state. The PM said: “UP mein buniyaad tayar ho chuki hai jis par naye Uttar Pradesh ki bhavya aur divya imaarat ka nirmaan hoga” He also said that while earlier tere was a sense of fear in the state the Yogi government has brought about a change and now it is set to progress under his leadership. He said that such a summit is in itself a great change that one can see in Uttar Pradesh. He said that the present government has raised hopes for betterment and progress of the people of the state.
CM Yogi said that UP has garnered investment worth Rs 4.28 lakh crore on the first day of the summit and 1,045 MoUs have been signed so far. He said this is a matter of great honour for the state that Fortune 500 companies are investing in the state.
Mukesh Ambani said that Reliance will create 1 lkah jobs and that Reliance Jio has already created 40,000 direct and indirect jobs in UP. He said that Reliance Jio will invest Rs 10,000 crore in UP in the next 3 years, whereas it has already invested Rs 20,000 crore in the state.
Kumar Mangalam Birla said that his group plans to invest Rs 25,000 crore in the next 5 years. Similarly Gautam Adani has promised to invest Rs 35,000 crore in multi-modal logistics.
Anand Mahindra said that Club Mahindra will invest Rs 200 crore in UP and will sign an MoU with UP Govt for developing electric vehicles.
Several other industrialists have promised to come to the state for starting operations and for pumping in investments. The summit will conclude tomorrow with President Ram Nath Kovind to attend the valedictory function.
The summit is being attended by at least 5,000 dignitaries from the industry. For this purpose the state administration including the police department is working overtime to make the event a success.
It remains to be seen that what amount worth of investments can be garnered by the state post-summit and how far the promises made turn into reality.
