On February 13, the Police Families Welfare Society, a welfare arm of Delhi Police launched two skill development centres under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY),which is implemented by National Skill Development Centres (NSDC), at Model Town and Narela Police colonies for imparting training on Beauty-Therapy and Cutting/Tailoring respectively.
Authorization was provided by PFWS to an experienced agency namely “Skill Root Education Technical Consulting India Pvt. Ltd.” to run these centres under the supervision of NSDC. The prime motive is to impart training to the families/wards of the police personnel to provide them employment and encourage them for skill building in their spare time in a rewarding manner.
A formal ceremony for the launch was held today at 1700 hours at Mata Sundari College Auditorium (near Bal Bhawan), New Delhi. Mala Baijal, spouse of LG, Delhi was the Chief Guest of the programme. Dignitaries from NSDC & heads of various CPO’s welfare associations were also present during the programme. “PRASHIKSHA” which is an effort and a step towards empowerment of women of our community through skill development, as per vision of Patron Amulya Patnaik & guidance of Suchana Patnaik, President PFWS, is being implemented successfully by Dr. Sushi Singh, Vice President PFWS & her able team at 2 welfare centres.
The police colonies at Narela & Model Town have a large number of residents and opening of these two skill centres will fulfill the needs of the eligible candidates for job opportunities in the fields of cutting & tailoring and beauty-therapy. These courses received an overwhelming response during initial survey and initially, a batch of 60 for both the centres (30 in morning and 30 in afternoon) have been shortlisted for training. The timings of training shall be from 1000 hrs to 1300 hrs and from 1400 hrs to 1700 hrs. After completion of first batch, the remaining willing candidates shall be considered on turn basis. The tenure of the course shall be 3 months.
The centres will impart free of cost training to the participants. After successful completion of training, each trainee shall be given course certificate by NSDC, which may help them in getting recruited in related same fields. The agency shall also arrange placements for these aspirants possibly near their residences. This agency shall further assist in entrepreneurship by providing financial help through nationalized banks.
Suchana Patnaik, President PFWS in her Welcome Address stated that we have grabbed the opportunity of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) to open two skill development centres at Narela and Model Town which will enable the trainees to achieve self empowerment. A counseling session for Civil Services aspirants was also held to provide coaching at discounted fees. Under the banner of Mission Olympics, the children have succeeded in reaching new heights and some of them participated at the National Level.
Dr. SushiSingh, Vice President, PFWS has stated that PFWS has ten welfare centres andvarious courses like self defence, tailoring, cooking, yoga, beautician, etc.which enabled the residents of police colonies for self empowerment. To achievenew heights in sports, under the banner of Mission Olympics, a trainingschedule was started and many children achieved new heights in various sportsdisciplines. Now two skill development centres under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)was set up in Narela and Model Town police colonies.
Mala Baijal, Chief Guest in her speech expressed her happiness in opening two skill development centres by PFWS for imparting training in the police welfare centres and she appreciated the various activities undertaken by PFWS in empowering, skilling and overall growth of police families in Delhi.
Amulya Patnaik, CP Delhi, in his address congratulated team of lady wives of PFWS who have done commendable job and promised for opening more centres in Delhi. Few eminent resource persons from NSDC & Skill Root as Implementing Agency were felicitated apart of the distribution of the training kits amongst the registered trainees of both centres by the Chief Guest. A few national level achievers of PFWS-Mission Olympics were acknowledged by the Patron, Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi.
