Under the CM Samoohik Vivah Yojana (Collective Marriage Scheme), 151 couples belonging to poor backgrounds were married off in a ceremony held at ITS Paramedical College, Muradnagar. On the occasion, Principal Secretary (Social Welfare Dept.), Manoj Singh said that it is innovative decision by the CM to have introduced this scheme that eases the marriage burden of couples coming from poor families. The scheme is also aimed at minimizing the cost of marriages by collectively encouraging couples and their families to go for such marriages, he added.
District Magistrate (DM) Ghaziabad, Ritu Maheshwari said that further this scheme will be extended to Block and Tehsil level as well and this is just a start. Under this scheme there is a provision of giving out a total sum of Rs 35,000 towards the marriage of each couple. Under the help various items were gifted to the newly married couples and especially the bride. Mayor Asha Sharma and all officials of the administration including CDO Ramesh Ranjan, SSP HN Singh, Municipal Commissioner, CP Singh, among other officials were present on the occasion.
The DM appreciated the efforts of the social activists who extended a helping hand to make the programme a success. Due to them, an additional assistance in the form of gifts, arranging for food and other help.
