District Magistrate (DM), Ghaziabad and Vice Chairman of Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), Ritu Maheshwari today inaugurated a sewerage treatment plant (STP) of a capacity of 56 MLD at Noor Nagar (Morti). This STP had long been the demand of residents of the area as well as green activists also. Giving details of the project, the DM and GDA VC said that the plant has been built at a cost of Rs 78.04 crore and will benefit a population of 8 lakh.

Maheshwari elaborated that Raj Nagar Extension—considering the number of flats it has—was in dire need of this plant, especially after 2,500 flats having been completed here and more in the offing. Already 65 developers were building high-rise flats here since the year 2010. The GDA had taken upon the task of constructing the STP that had been done now, she said.

The GDA Chief Engineer informed that the STP had been built in an area of 17,929 sq. mt. and the design & inspection of the plant had been done by IIT Delhi.

He also informed that the treated sewerage water from the plant will be discharged in the Hindon.
