The staff of Police Station Ashok Vihar, North West District arrested two thieves namely Ravi Kumar and Mithali (name changed), both residents of Delhi. With their arrest, a sensational house theft case has been worked out with huge recovery of cash and stolen jewellery.
In the morning of January 11, a PCR call was received at PS Ashok Vihar regarding theft at a House in Ashok Vihar, Phase-1, Delhi. The complainant stated that renovation work is going on at her house and she had kept the jewellery items at her home due to ongoing marriage season. She checked the jewellery items by herself on Dec. 25 and found that it was all safe and when she again checked the same on Jan 8, she was shocked to find her jewellery missing. She further stated that they hired a house maid recently and she suspected her to be behind the incident. The incident of such huge theft spread a panic wave in the locality. On this incident, a case was registered at PS Ashok Vihar and the investigation was taken up.
The scene of crime was got thoroughly inspected and on the basis of evidences gathered from the spot, it prima-facie appeared to be an insider’s job. On interrogation of the maid, she tried to mislead and distract the police from the line of investigation. Subsequently she broke down and spilled the beans which led to the recovery of stolen jewellery and arrest of his live-in partner who was also working with the aggrieved family as their driver. The investigation team headed by Inspector Aarti Sharma, SHO/Ashok Vihar, ASI Daizy Dagar, HC Dinesh, Ct Ramsvaroop, Ct Sandeep, W/Ct Pinki, W/Ct Rajvinder Kaur recovered the stolen items.
During sustained interrogation, both accused confessed to their involvement in the crime and further stated that they had sold jewellery worth Rs. 35-40 lakhs to one Pawan Kumar who is running a shop in the name and style of Bhushan Bhandaar, east Rohtash Nagar, Delhi for Rs. 5 lakhs only. Further, they have also placed jewellery worth Rs. 4,08,144 with Muthoot Finance and Muthoot Fincorp.
