A delegation of Flat Owner Federation Ghaziabad comprising Mukesh Agrawal, RK Garg and Ajit Nigam under the leadership of Col. Tejandra Pal Tyagi met the Municipal Commissioner, CP Singh in connection with the dumping ground of Siddharth Vihar and on the issue of making Ghaziabad a SMART CITY, said a press statement issued by the Federation.
The President of the Flat Owner Federation Ghaziabad Col Tyagi brought out that the dumping ground at Siddharth Vihar is turning out to be a bigger menace than Ghazipur fill and a potent source of contamination to the 100 Cusec Water Treatment Plant besides being a source of air pollution for the upcoming colony of UP Awas Vikas. A report of the visit to the dumping ground was submitted to the Municipal Commissioner who after detailed discussion agreed that no more dumping grounds will be made in Ghaziabad, the press statement informed.
Solid waste management will be done by resorting to composting, installing waste to energy plants and by making sanitary land fills suggested by the delegation (A few details regarding Land Fills are attached ). He also agreed to stop dumping at Siddharth Vihar site, besides doing bio remediation of the solid waste already dumped there.
A few suggestions were also given by the delegation to make Ghaziabad a Smart City by inclusive participation. The Municipal Commissioner readily agreed to most of the suggestions which include establishing an e-waste collection centre, calling a meeting of the Town Vending Committee, inviting ex-servicemen to support Swachta Mission. Very many other specific points like removal of dumping sites near the Secretary GDA’s residence and near the petrol pump at GT Road, cleaning of the drain along GT Road, Providing Toilets under the flyover of Vivekananda Colony etc were discussed and resolved.
