District Magistrate (DM), Ghaziabad Ritu Maheshwari today has appealed to artists in the city to come forward in volunteering to help beautify the city with theme based painting, that would be done on sides of several government buildings and locations as well as on corners of elevated road and other main roads of the city. According to the DM in this task art professionals, people from institutions and NGOs, among others can be of great help.
Listing out the administrations programme, Maheshwari said that in the first phase theme based painting will be done on both sides of the elevated road starting from UP Gate and ending at Raj Nagar Extension. Already theme based painting of 5,200 metre length has been done on this road, she said and added that in 800 metres stretch of this road Central Govt. flagship schemes such as Swachh Bharat Mission, beti bachao beti padhao, Green India and others can be taken up and themes can also be worked out at the DM office and then children can complete the painting.
The DM was advised by an official of the education department, that students from engineering colleges’ architecture wing can be asked to paint for this cause. The BSA, Vinay Kumar said that 100 teachers of the primary education department will be painting on the sides of elevated road, it was informed while 10 art teachers from other colleges would also chip in. A GDA official and DPS Meerut Rd. principal was also present at the meet.
