The Uttar Pradesh Police has been in the news recently for some big catches related to notorious criminals and encounter with them is not uncommon.
Kairana in Shamli, that had earlier earned notoriety due to criminal gangs holding sway, is suddenly in the news- for the encounter between police and dreaded gangster Sabir- who was shot dead in the encounter that took place on the intervening night of Jan. 3-4. Sabir was a wanted criminal carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head and his death being seen as a major achievement for the UP Police. However, constable Ankit Tomar who was shot during the encounter passed away in a hospital laying his life in the call of duty. Sabir was a member of Mukim Kala gang. One of his aides managed to escape.
In the second incident the police again tasted success by shooting dead dreaded criminal Satyaveer alias Sattu, who carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head. Satyaveer was killed when he along with his gang mates was trying to commit armed loot yesterday night in Bulandshahar. HE was challenged by the cops near Walipura Nahar, where a shoot-out ensued in which Sattu was killed.
As per some reports senior police officials also came in the line of criminals’ fire but were saved as they were wearing bullet proof jackets.
On constable Tomar’s death UP Police tweeted: ‘A journey of life that ended too soon… a journey of valour that we will carry forward for you… inspired by you!’
