In a major decision, about 8 days after Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh erroneously declared a newborn dead, the Delhi Govt. today cancelled its license. Delhi’s Health Minister, Satyender Jain however gave an assurance that patients already undergoing treatment at the hospital won’t be affected, but new patients would not be allowed. The decision had led to different reactions with the medical community terming the decision as a harsh one.
The Delhi Govt. is being hailed for the bold decision on social media, especially CM Arvind Kejriwal who had tweeted: “Whereas we don’t wish to interfere in day to day functioning of pvt hospitals, however, open loot or criminal negligence by any hospital won’t be tolerated. We won’t hesitate to take strongest action in such cases.”
Many people on twitter have said that the Delhi CM has set standard for others to follow by taking this step.
