The Union Government has approved plan of action to cover 42,804 families in 28 cities of Haryana under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’ (Urban) Housing for All scheme. Apart from this, the Union Government also approved the scheme for providing housing facility to 24,221 beneficiaries in 28 cities in the first phase. This was informed in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Urban Local Bodies Minister, Kavita Jain, here today. It was informed in the meeting that action plan was being prepared for other 19 cities which would soon be sent to the Central Government for approval after getting it approved from the State Government.
It was also informed that people residing in slums of Faridabad city would soon be allotted houses constructed under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). The repair work of houses constructed by the National Building Construction Corporation in Faridabad city during 2012, is being carried out by the Corporation and on pilot basis, initially first 100 houses would be repaired and allotted to those residing in slums of small clusters. It was also informed that basic amenities in these areas would be provided by the Municipal Corporation, Faridabad.
