With a view to strengthening the power infrastructure in the state, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) has decided to undertake works costing over Rs 46 crore under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana.
While giving this information, a spokesman of the Nigam said that under the scheme, new 11 KV Low Tension (LT) and High Tension (HT) lines would be laid in district Kaithal at the cost of Rs 32 crore and in district Kurukshetra at the cost of Rs 14.82 crore. Apart from this, the capacity of existing lines would be increased and new transformers would be installed at 33 KV sub-stations so as to enhance their capacity. He said that as many as 3,344 families in district Kaithal and 3,002 in district Kurukshetra living Below Poverty Line would be provided electricity connections. He said that in district Kurukshetra, 3,500 Single Phase Meters and 1,683 Three Phase Meters would be replaced. A contract has been made on turnkey basis for these works. With this, rural consumers of both the districts, would not have to face low voltage problem and would get improved power supply, he added.
